BOWs_BLOG_Jig.jpg A quick how to on swimming a jig

by B & M BAITS OWNER Wayne August 2010

Swimming a jig can be deadly in spring, and in the south can be fished most of the year because of the grass. When swimming your jig position your rod tip at about ten o’clock position, while retrieving your jig move your rod up and down sporadically through the grass. I prefer shallow grass mostly on flats or points, but you can swim a jig around other cover such as fallen trees or tree tops. When you feel the strike pull your rod up to the twelve o’clock position, do not drop your rod, letting the fish feel you. You can use different color trailers or grubs depending on the season. Try swimming a jig I think you will find it a real productive weapon.
